September 16 - September 18, 2016
Theme: ON THE WAY WITH JESUS. The Irish poet Dylan Thomas in his ode to his dying father speaks powerfully to the current world: "Do not go gently into that dark night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light." Here we have the deeply human passion for life confronting resignation to the dying of the light. According to the Gospel, God is on the side of life as the Jesus story powerfully reveals. On this retreat we will have time, space and guidance to claim this good news.
Leader: Fred Taylor served as Executive Director of For Love of Children (FLOC) for 37 years until his retirement in 2003. He is the author of Roll Away the Stone: Saving America's Children and is currently active as a retreat leader, Bible teacher, preacher and consultant. He is a member of 8th Day Church.
Open Retreat.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats. We are requiring that masks be worn indoors except when dining or in your personal room.
