Theme: WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM? A retreat for the beginning of Lent. In these turbulent times, the Holy Season of Lent comes as an invitation to go slower, listen deeply and open more fully to God's presence in our lives and world. Our focus in this retreat will be Jesus's question: "Who do you say that I am?" This question startled his followers and continues to challenge us today. However, we could just as easily turn that question around, letting it become our own heart prayer addressed to Jesus, the Christ. Who do you say that I am? What is my truest, most authentic self in God? The winter silence, the gathered praying community and a sacred iconic image of Christ will support our desire to draw closer to the living Presence.
Leader: Carole Crumley is an Episcopal priest and former Senior Program Director for Shalem Institute. She is an internationally known contemplative retreat leader and pilgrimage guide to sacred and secular sites throughout Europe, the Middle East and the U.S.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats. We are requiring that masks be worn indoors except when dining or in your personal room.
The cost for weekend retreats is $250. A $100 deposit is required to register. (Let us know if you need financial assistance.) To reserve a space email Nat Reid at office@dayspringretreat.org, or send a check with a note indicating which retreat you wish to register for.
