This retreat is currently fully enrolled. Please let us know if you would like to be on the waiting list.

Theme: SACRED MOVEMENT: EVERY STEP
BECOMES A PRAYER.
Sacred movement integrates
mind, body, and spirit, takes us down into the silence
within, and opens us to the wholeness of our souls.
During this silent retreat, we will gather together in
sacred circle dance, an ancient form of body prayer.
It is movement grounded in intention with steps so
easy to follow there can be “no mistakes, only
variations.” We will move in community to the music
of Taize chants, including Teresa of Avila’s “Bookmark
Prayer” of trust and patience: “Let nothing disturb
you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing…
God alone suffices.”

Leaders: Suzi Kindervatter is member of a Sacred
Circle Dance group and the Coordinator of the
Labyrinth Ministry at St Columba’s Episcopal Church
in DC. In recent years Suzi has discovered the power
of "contemplative movement" for deepening her
openness to God. She has led retreats and workshops
in the Metro area for the past ten years. Evi Beck,
Professor Emerita of Women's Studies at the
University of Maryland, has been dancing all her life,
but when she found Sacred Circle Dance she knew
she had come home. She facilitates three circles in
the DC area. Sacred Circle Dance is central to her
spiritual practice.

An Open Retreat.

Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.

You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats.  We are requiring that masks be worn indoors except when dining or in your personal room.

The cost for weekend retreats is $250.  A $100 deposit is required to register.  (Let us know if you need financial assistance.)  To reserve a space email Nat Reid at office@dayspringretreat.org, or send a check with a note indicating which retreat you wish to register for.

Dinner on Friday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Friday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Sunday.  Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
