Theme: Being Beloved. “Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, with whom my soul is well pleased." (Matt. 12:18). Although we may “know” God loves us, it’s sometimes hard to believe this and live out of it. As God's beloved children we learn to be secure in the knowledge that we are always standing on holy ground. God loves us unconditionally. We can truly give our lives only when we understand and embrace every aspect of our lives, all blessedness and all brokenness, as belovedness. In the silence of retreat and the beauty of the changing season, and inspired by Henri Nouwen’s book, The Life of the Beloved, we will open our awareness to being beloved and explore what it means to live out of that transformational reality.
Leader: Grace Cangialosi is an Episcopal priest, currently serving part-time in a small rural church in Virginia and doing individual spiritual direction. She has served in parish ministry and as a hospital chaplain, and has also been involved with several ministries of the Church of the Saviour and has led retreats at Dayspring.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats. We are requiring that masks be worn indoors except when dining or in your personal room.
The cost for weekend retreats is $250. A $100 deposit is required to register. (Let us know if you need financial assistance.) To reserve a space email Nat Reid at office@dayspringretreat.org, or send a check with a note indicating which retreat you wish to register for.
Dinner on Friday at 7 pm is the first official gathering. You are welcome to arrive and settle in between 3:30 and 6:30 pm on Friday. The retreat will end by 2 pm on Sunday. Please plan to stay for the entire retreat.
