March 6 - March 8, 2015
Theme: THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EMPOWERED DISCIPLESHIP. Over 2000 years ago a radical itinerant messenger by the name of Jesus Christ provided principles that shook up the status quo and empowered all to build community at the table of discipleship. This retreat will examine the importance of Christian Discipleship to meet personal and communal needs for the present age as silence guides our spirits.
Leader: Rev. Joseph Deck, III is the Executive Director of The Festival Center and the Minister to Men at Reid Temple A.M.E. Church.
For the Church of Christ, Right Now. Others welcome as space permits.
Weekend retreats run Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The silence begins Friday night after dinner when the leader opens the retreat and introduces the theme. The leader usually offers brief reflections with morning and evening prayers on Saturday. The silence ends after breakfast Sunday morning with a time of sharing and worship, followed by lunch and departure.
You must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to attend weekend retreats. We are requiring that masks be worn indoors except when dining or in your personal room.
